Vintage Herman Miller Eames EA208 soft pad office swivel chair 4 star base

Absolute classic of American mid century modern design. Developed by Charles and Ray Eames - the Soft Pad series evolved out of the more simple office base Aluminium Group. Created in 1969, it has leather cushioning and a plush vibe.

This EA208 model doesn’t tilt or move up and down, created for a uniform feel - it does sit higher than a dining chair, ready for a desk. The castors are in good nick and move freely.

4 star ‘antler’ base, with original Herman Miller sticker on the underside and patent number impressed.

This particular chair dates to the late 70s to early 80s, it is structurally sound and comfy - but has obvious issues with its condition. The leather is very worn with particular problems on the seat. The armrests have degraded in areas as shown in the photos. Would make a nice comfy office chair for those less bothered with perfection and want a classic cheaper - or a fantastic project for someone.
