Vintage bottle carrier or firewood storage upcycled with Klein blue

This antique bottle carrier or firewood holder came to us with in a sorry state. The sides were badly water damaged and had to be removed, so we replace them and decided to go for a contrasting addition of vibrant blue, a close match to Yves Klein International blue.

We then matched that with the handle, turning a quality but old and unused piece into a contemporary bit of design.

The older wood still has some scratches, patina and sign of age - there is a slight rippling in one bit of the new ply. Otherwise it looks fantastic and has been finished with some Polyx Olio in satin to give it a hard wearing coat.
