Vintage 00s Ikea Fridene swivel armchair by Carina Bengs postmodern lounge chair

What a stunning piece, only available for a limited period in the early oughties, this chair has become a classic of vintage Ikea.

Designed by Carina Bengs, with a nod to the work of Charlotte Perrriand - its a low lying armchair that swivels easily 360.

The frame is made of beech, simple bentwood curves reminiscent of Alvar Aalto and nice oversized upholstery. The frame has a few signs of wear but is very nice and moves freely.

Condition is ok, the frame has areas of wear and signs of the finish going, but nothing major. Check photos.

The removable slip cover has become damaged and dirty, so we have photographed the chair without it. We still have it so that an upholster could make a new one for it using it as a guide. Chair is sold at a lower price because of this fault. The chair was designed so that the cover was easy to remove and change, using velcro.
