This design was originally produce in Eastern Europe by Thonet in the late 19th century - we believe this one is from the 1930s or 40s.

It’s solid and strong, with no obvious wobbly or loose bits - however there are historic cracks, fixes and splits in some places, unsurprisingly for its age and use. We have given it a light clean, but as there was no obvious functional problems with it, we didn't want to intervene.

The finish has worn away in some parts, but to be honest it still looks amazing and is such a statement.
